Lakes 2014: Day Two (Part One)

Apologies for the slight delay in posting; deadlines are a-comin'. Anyway, I've split day two into two parts as it basically unfolded that way.

We woke up on the Tuesday morning to a very soggy scene and feeling in a bit of a fair-weather-fan mood, we decided to put off the hills for a bit and drive out to Keswick for a mill-about.

Best part of the long drive up? (in addition to the pretty ace scenery, of course) Being flown over by four Hawk Jets and one (bloody spectacular) Hercules. Holy. Shit. The disappointment and despair of not having my camera out will be carried to my grave... but so too will the sight itself, so it's swings and roundabouts.

But before long, the dreary weather cleared up. So having filled up on chicken pie (me) and fish & chips (Yeti), we decided to pop over to Thirlmere and have a nosy while the weather was still favourable.

We didn't stick around too long as neither of us were wearing hill-worthy boots, so after a scenic drive and a cheeky amble to near the shore, we headed back to Langdale to make the best of the good weather.

Next time... Yeti and I return to our absolute favourite little hill: Side Pike.
